Chris Hughes, 33, has opened up about his long-distance relationship with girlfriend JoJo Siwa, 23, insisting it’s “not as tricky as people think” as the couple prepares to mark their one-year anniversary.

The pair met on Celebrity Big Brother last year, embarking on an unexpected romance, with Chris frequently flying to the US to visit the Dance Moms star. After a long spell apart due to JoJo’s busy schedule, Chris revealed he has “embraced” the challenges of distance, noting she welcomed the time apart following her hectic commitments.

The former Love Island star, who is supporting PureGym’s new JoyStroll initiative, shared that JoJo has already gifted him a thoughtful anniversary token — a matching bracelet celebrating their first year together. Chris recalled: “I just got back from America, and it was her birthday last week. We played golf three days on the bounce — she’s now an avid golfer, which is perfect for me.”
Reflecting on the long-distance aspect, he added: “It’s tricky, but not as tricky as people imagine. We’d see each other every month, one way or another, so it’s never as stressful as people think. I love going to America, spending time with her and her family — it’s a lovely experience.”
Chris also addressed the social media storm sparked early in their relationship, given their 10-year age gap and JoJo’s previous relationship. He said: “You quickly get used to the noise. She’s been in the industry a long time, I’ve been in it nine years, so adapting isn’t the hardest thing.”
Beyond romance, Chris promotes stepping away from screens through PureGym’s JoyStroll, encouraging people to move, breathe, and appreciate life outside the digital world.
