Emmerdale‘s secret firestarter Kyle Winchester is finally caught out next week – as no-nonsense Graham Foster orders him to confess to his crimes.
When Graham continues his investigation into the identity of Emmerdale Farm’s mystery arsonist, it’s only a matter of time before he manages to uncover Kyle’s guilt. But will the troubled schoolboy cooperate with his demands?
This week’s episodes confirmed that Kyle is the shadowy tormentor who’s been targeting Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle on the farm. He’s successfully managed to escape detection, while Robert has been busy pointing the figure elsewhere in the village.
Kyle was given fair warning to stop his fire spree when he learned that Joe Tate would be installing CCTV cameras on the farm. However, when he faces more problems at home, Kyle can’t resist the temptation to strike again…
“There’s another tough moment for Kyle when Cain turns down spending time with him,” explains our Emmerdale insider. “Kyle feels that their bond hasn’t quite been the same since Cain’s operation – they can’t do the usual father-son activities as Cain is still recovering and needs to take it easy.
“Kyle responds by skipping school, which doesn’t go down well with Cain. When Cain also complains about Kyle focusing too much on fixing up his car, it leaves Kyle more convinced than ever that Cain doesn’t enjoy being around him.”
Later, a lighter falls out of Kyle’s bag and he’s consumed by his desire to start another fire.
Graham is alarmed to spot smoke and he rushes off to find Kyle watching the car burn. He pulls the vulnerable schoolboy to safety, but soon realises that Kyle is the arsonist.
“The truth shocks Graham – he’s furious that Kyle would be so reckless,” continues our spy. “It also triggers his own past trauma. Fans will remember the details of Graham’s backstory, as he once hit rock bottom and set fire to his hut on the grounds of Joe’s school, planning to take his own life.”
Graham’s mood changes when Kyle explains that he isn’t just causing damage for the sake of it – his actions are influenced by his troubles at home.
Taking pity on the young boy, Graham lets Kyle hide in his car when Robert arrives on the scene to investigate.
Once they’re alone again, Graham promises to help Kyle but insists that he must confess to Cain and Moira.
“Whether Kyle agrees remains to be seen, but it seems that an unlikely new friendship has formed,” our insider adds. “Graham even signs Kyle up to the cadets, believing that it’ll give him the direction and discipline in life that he clearly needs…”
