Another Emmerdale star is leaving the show.
Actress Caroline Harker reprised her role as Doctor Caitlin Todd earlier this year. She was first introduced in 2025, as part of a storyline that saw Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) get to grips with his new job at Hotten General Hospital.
Dr Todd has been involved in a plot that saw the ITV soap shine a light on workplace bullying. For a reason yet to be revealed, Doctor Todd relentlessly bullied Jacob. She would question his every move as a resident doctor, all with the intention of completely destroying his confidence.
Jacob tried to report Caitlin to the HR department at the hospital, but learnt that she had already made a complaint against him. He discovered that Doctor Todd had collated a mountain of apparent evidence that fuelled her fake narrative that Jacob was obsessed with her.

His battle through HR ended because Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) convinced Jacob that it wouldn’t be worth fighting his boss. Unbeknownst to him, Charity only said this because Doctor Todd discovered the truth about baby Leyla’s parentage and blackmailed her.
Caitlin took early retirement from the hospital, which meant the nightmare – for a little while – continued for Jacob in the confines of the village.
She then switched her focus onto Charity, after spying an opportunity to extort money from her.
For weeks now, Doctor Todd has been piling the pressure onto Charity, wanting £100,000 from her in exchange for her silence about baby Leyla. Charity hasn’t managed to get all of the money together yet, and will be told by Caitlin that if she fails, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob will find out the truth at Sarah’s 21st birthday party.

Villains in any soap always have a shelf life, and it’s now being reported that actress Caroline Harker will soon leave her role as Doctor Todd.
‘Caroline has loved her time at Emmerdale but it’s time to move on’, a source told The Sun.
‘She always knew playing such an evil character came with a shelf life but she’s leaving with many fond memories’.
Doctor Todd’s exit will come after a truly harrowing part to the story, which will see Caitlin sexually assault Charity.
The character will attack Charity in the episode that will be broadcasted on Sunday, June 7. The ITV soap aims to explore the complex feelings of isolation that survivors can experience, particularly in the context of female-on-female assault.
In the episodes that follow, Charity will struggle to come to terms with the attack, having to choose between confiding in her loved ones, or internalising the trauma.

Producer of the show Sophie Roper discussed the important storyline and said: ‘Charity’s storyline will explore the impact of sexual violence, and though this heinous act is fundamentally about power, we’ll explore the complexities of how Charity processes her trauma when the perpetrator is a woman.
‘With little conversation surrounding female-on-female assault, we’ll explore the overwhelming feelings of isolation many survivors experience and will examine the disparity between the legal term sexual assault and the fact that many women in Charity’s position feel this minimises what’s happened to them, because they feel like they’ve been raped.
‘Though difficult viewing at times, Charity’s resilience will inspire hope as she confronts what has happened to her.’
The news of Caroline’s departure as Doctor Todd comes after three more Emmerdale exits.
Nick Miles, Bradley Johnson and Olivia Bromley are all leaving the ITV soap as Jimmy King, Vinny Dingle and Dawn Taylor.
