Emmerdale has confirmed an abrupt end to the soap’s surprising new fling storyline – but is it really over for good? Scenes this week see Laurel Thomas and Ross Barton grow intimate after the latter’s recent rejection of Gabby Thomas.
However, as they get closer after dancing lessons, they’re nearly caught by Sam Dingle. Meanwhile, Laurel starts to feel less guilt about the tryst when Gabby reveals she’s ready to put Ross behind her.
Yet it appears that Laurel will have second thoughts about her new lover in scenes set to air next week, especially when Ross declares that he wants to take her out on a date.
Laurel realises the relationship is deepening and feels guilt over Ross taking the fling more seriously than herself, leading Nicola King to grow concerned.
Laurel decides to call quits on the affair in order to prevent things from getting deeper, leaving Ross upset.
Will he be able to talk her round?
“Ross has fallen hard for Laurel in a short space of time,” our Emmerdale source said. “He’s used to casual flings around the village, but there’s something about Laurel that’s tempting him to pursue something more serious.
“Laurel has only ever seen this as a bit of fun, though – especially after her relationship with Ray turned dark so quickly. How will Ross cope when Laurel pulls the plug on their secret hook-ups?”
Laurel actor Charlotte Bellamy previously explained that her character sees the tryst as just “having a bit of fun”, adding: “She’s clearly going through menopause or a kind of sexual awakening. And why not?
“She’s been stung. So maybe a frivolous affair will see her through. But I’m sure it won’t carry on like that…,” she further teased.
