In his most moving and deeply personal interview yet, Prince William has offered a rare, heartfelt glimpse into royal family life, movingly declaring that he and his children “couldn’t cope” without the Princess of Wales.
Speaking during a live radio broadcast with Heart Breakfast ahead of a busy day of engagements on the idyllic Isles of Scilly, the future King poured his heart out regarding his wife’s ongoing recovery following her brave battle with cancer.
With palpable emotion, William, 43, praised Kate’s incredible resilience as she steadily returns to the public eye, describing her as “an amazing mom and an amazing wife” following what has been an extraordinarily difficult period for the young family.
“She’s been amazing,” the Prince beamed. “She’s been through so much in the last couple of years particularly. I am very, very proud.”
‘She came back buzzing!’
The Prince of Wales revealed that Kate, 44, returned home “buzzing” from her recent high-profile official trip to Italy—one of her most significant overseas appearances since her treatment.
In a charmingly relatable moment, the Prince joked about the sheer volume of paperwork the dedicated Princess tackles in bed as she prepares for her passion projects.
“She wanted to go and do lots of research,” William explained. “She spends God knows how much time now looking through all the paperwork. She’s a proper pro on early years, so most evenings I’m fighting to get past all the paperwork she’s got lined up ready to read in the bedroom!”
He also confessed to being left stunned by his multi-talented wife during the European visit. “I had no idea she spoke Italian!” he chuckled. “She must have dusted that off from a while ago.”

While the Princess is eager to dive back into her royal duties, William stressed that the family is remaining fiercely protective of her health.
“Away trips like that take a lot out of you because you’re on a sort of permanent ‘receive and send’ the whole time,” the Prince noted sensibly. “We have to balance that, and make sure she’s okay and rested. But she’s in good form.”
When asked if they balance the heavy workload with a secret glass of wine and some pasta on the side, William laughed: “I’m hoping that she grabbed that! We all need a glass of wine every night!”
The down-to-earth heir to the throne also delighted listeners by painting a hilariously chaotic picture of regular family mornings with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. He joked about the daily scramble of forgotten school instruments, frantic jam sandwiches, and the usual mad rush out the door.

Rolling up his sleeves

Showing he is not afraid of a bit of hard graft, William rolled up his sleeves to help replant a shelter-belt tree in St. Mary’s to restore woodland ravaged by Storm Gretie.
Later, the Prince visited a Duchy of Cornwall construction site where 10 new sustainable homes are being built to combat the local housing crisis. The day concluded with the Prince officially opening a state-of-the-art facility at the Isles of Scilly Hospital.
