Prince William and Princess Kate: A romance that almost ended prematurely.
From their very first meeting, Prince William recognized “something very special” in Kate Middleton . In an interview in November 2010, when he presented his girlfriend with an engagement ring that had belonged to his mother, the late Princess Diana, he affirmed that Kate was his destined woman. However, before officially becoming husband and wife, Kate and William nearly missed each other.

Recalling their brief separation, William explained that they were both very young and in college at the time. They needed space to grow and find their own paths. That period of separation actually helped strengthen their relationship later on.
