Alan Carr and Amanda Holden offered Strictly Come Dancing hosting job â with pair âso flatteredâ by BBC plans to make them next Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman
Alan Carr and Amanda Holden have revealed they were offered the Strictly Come Dancing hosting job after Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly left the BBC series.
The comedian and the Britainâs Got Talent judge, who host their own property series together on the Beeb, revealed they were âflatteredâ to be asked to take over from Claudia, 54, and Tess, 56.
The co-hosts of the BBC series stepped back from the show after the most recent series came to an end last December â with speculation continuing to grow about who will be lined up to replace them.
Alan, 49, and Amanda, 54, admitted they had âsaid noâ to the offer made by the BBC for them to take over as they appeared on Jessie and Lennie Wareâs podcast, Table Manners.
During the interview, the mother-and-daughter duo asked Alan and Amanda: âYou two arenât going to present Strictly together?â to which the comedian responded: âNo, we said no ages agoâ.
Amanda previously addressed speculation the duo were being lined up to take over during her Heart Radio show in December, after fans called for the pair to be made the new hosts.

Alan and Amanda were said to have been one the BBC top choices to fill in for Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly who stepped down in December
She told her listeners: âI want to say now that me and Alan are 100 per cent not doing Strictly. We are so flattered to be in that mix. We both are not doing it.â
During the interview, Alan also shut down rumours that his popular comedy chat show, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, could make a comeback on Channel 4.
He continued: âIt would be nice to do a chat show, I donât know, but no oneâs approached me or anything.â
Instead, Amanda and Alan have recently been busy with the latest series of their BBC Show, which sees them transform properties in sunny destinations.
The pair jetted to Corfu for Amanda & Alanâs Greek Job, which saw them tackle yet another renovation job, transforming a run-down home.
In one scene during the showâs second episode, Amanda admitted her regrets at âhurting people and causing chaosâ as she reflected on divorce during an emotional chat with best pal.
As the duo took time out from the building work, the mother-of-two reflected on her life so far, including her divorce from comedian Les Dennis.
Les, 72, and Amanda were married in 1995, before going their separate ways in 2002 and finalising their divorce a year later â after she had an affair with actor Neil Morrissey.

She went on to find love with music producer Chris Hughes, who she shares daughters Lexi, 19, and Holly, 13, with the pair getting married in 2008.
Reflecting on her time with Les, Amanda told Alan â who divorced Paul Drayton in 2022: âObviously weâve both been through a divorce.
âWeâve both made mistakes and as much as I regret hurting people maybe, or causing chaos, it shapes you to who you are in this moment. I think life is too short to have regrets.â
Alan continued: âI mean itâs not decisions for me but knowing your worth and the amount of times Iâve been walked over and people have demeaned me.â
Amanda went on: âYou are soft, youâre so lovely,â as Alan added: âThereâs time that Iâd wished Iâd said no, I wish Iâd been a bit bolder and a bit stronger.â
The BGT judge expressed: âAfter a divorce, what you do think is that you are never gonna find love again. Do you sort of trust yourself to fall in love and make a good decision about somebody for the rest of your life?â
Celebrity Traitors winner Alan reflected: âYeah, itâd be nice wouldnât it? I donât really trust anyone really, thatâs the trouble. I think that is my main thing.â
Amanda asked: âWhat do you think Iâm going to do to you?â to which Alan reassured her: âI trust you and maybe my mum and dad and my family. Itâs just getting out there and trusting isnât it?â

Meanwhile, Alan was recently put out of the running to become the new Strictly Come Dancing host as his 2027 tour dates clash with when the show will be.
Alan became a TV sensation during his stint of Celebrity Traitors earlier this year and the broadcaster is âguttedâ they canât capitalise on his huge popularity.
The BBC are now said to be eyeing up former It Takes Two host Rylan Clark as a potential host for the show.
âAlan is out of the Golden Ten possible hosts and wonât be taking part in the tests; the BBC are gutted. He was their favourite to take on one of the positions but heâs spoken with the BBC and basically he cannot move his tour,â a source told The Sun.
âThe dates which are scheduled for 2027 are not able to be rearranged and Alan has had to choose. The BBC understand his position but they are hugely disappointed.
âThey thought Alan would be such a great choice for the job. Rylan has now replaced Alan as one of their top choices, it will come down to how Rylan gets on in the chemistry tests.â
The Daily Mail contacted the BBC for comment.
Alan will be touring the UK and Ireland extensively in 2027 with his new show, Have I Said Too Much? â with 90 dates in total.

The second leg of the tour begins in September and runs right the way through to November, which clashes with Strictly.
Alan was one of three names who were the frontrunners, with Bradley Walsh and Alex Jones also favourites.
According to reports, contenders will be put through a series of partner-swap chemistry tests, with BBC executives keen to find the perfect on-screen pairing.
A source told The Sun previously: âReplacing Claudia and Tess is a mammoth task but the BBC have whittled down the talent to ten people.
âAs well as Bradley, Alex and Alan, Rylan Clark, Rob Rinder, Zoe Ball, and Holly Willoughby will be at the chemistry day.
âAmanda Holden, Alison Hammond, and Angela Scanlon have made the cut too.â
The insider added that the stars will be brought into a studio and placed into different pairings to see who has the strongest on-screen connection.
They explained that pairings could consist of two women, two men, or a mixed partnership, as Strictly bosses look to âmix things upâ and find a combination that hasnât been tried before.
Melanie Blatt âtakes major step towards replacing Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman on Strictlyâ

In a statement announcing their departure in October, Tess and Claudia said: âWe have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream.
âWe were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.
âWe will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show.
âTheyâre the most brilliant team and weâll miss them every day.
âWe will cry when we say the last âkeep dancingâ but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza.â
