Megan was slapped with a non-negotiable five-year prison sentence, marking the definitive end of Beth’s gripping run on the ITV soap.
Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap’s Soap Scoop podcast, the actress opened up about why a prison cell—rather than a dramatic soap opera death—was always the absolute endgame for her twisted character.
⚖️ Mirroring Reality: Why a Courtroom Victory Was Vital
Historically, soap villains often escape real justice by meeting a grisly end in a stunt week or fleeing the country. However, Beth revealed that Corrie boss Kate Brooks and the scriptwriters were determined to show the legal system working effectively to give real-world victims hope.
“When I first took the role we didn’t know fully what was going to happen… but it was always that she wasn’t ever going to escape justice by being killed or anything like that,” Beth explained. “We always knew that she was going to serve her time. It shows the whole process of it.”
The actress stressed that the storyline aimed to mirror positive, real-life legal precedents where female abusers were successfully prosecuted and sent down for five to six years.
“It’s definitely important to show that, if you are being abused, then you can get justice,” Beth urged. “It’s really hard because it doesn’t always happen that way… Even though it’s obviously such a dark storyline, it’s just showing that it can happen.”

Beth is real-life best friends with Farrell Hegarty, who portrays fellow jailbird Lou Michaelis. The star is desperately hoping producers will write some prison-yard scenes for the dynamic duo.
“I’d love Megan to bump into Lou Michaelis,” Beth laughed. “I’d love to do some prison scenes with her. That would be fabulous. I think Lou would definitely put Megan in her place for sure!”
