The family find it ‘special’ to be working together for the first time

The Repair Shop stars Steve, Suzie and Fred Fletcher are all set to work together for the first time on TV following heartbreaking death.

While Steve regularly features on the show, alongside hosts Dominic Chinea and Will Kirk, away from the spotlight he runs his family business. The clock workshop was founded by Steve’s grandfather, Fred, who then passed it down to his father, John. Now, Steve runs it with his own son, Fred.

And now, on tonight’s episode of the Repair Shop, Steve’s sister, Suzie, and his son, Fred Fletcher, will all appear together for the very first time.

How do Steve, Suzie and Fred find it working together?

This is the first time the trio have ever worked together on The Repair Shop, and all of them agree that it was a “special” time.

Suzie admitted: “It is special. But it’s also incredibly natural. We’re such a close group. The three of us are related, but it feels like we’re related to everyone down there. It does have that family atmosphere, so we just feel really grateful for the fact we get to work together.”

Steve agreed: “It’s a lovely warm feeling, working with my family. But, like Suzie said, it’s a big family down there. It’s very strange that we might not see each other for a few months, but as soon as we do it’s like it’s only been five minutes.”

Fred admitted that he was nervous initially to work on the show, but with the help of Suzie and Steve, he managed to feel more at ease.

“It was nice to have Suzie and dad there, I felt a bit more comfortable going it it with that support. As Suzie said, everyone is a family. It wasn’t long before everyone was welcoming me into that.”

While it seems the family all get on well and absolutely love their time together, Steve had one wish about the whole situation.

He explained: “I just really wish our parents were still alive to watch the show and see us together on it. I think they would have been so proud. We just love working down there together as well. It’s so very reassuring.”

While Steve has kept his personal life away from the show, he has on occasion detailed the “heartbreak” he felt about losing his parents. And now, he wishes they could’ve seen how successful the show was.

Suzie agreed admitting it’s a “huge part” of their lives now. And that she can’t imagine it any other way.

She explained: “It’s become such a huge part of our personal lives as well. It’s been nine years and we still thoroughly enjoy being part of the team. I think that says a lot for the whole of the production and how much the public enjoy the show. That’s really what we are doing it for. So, we’re glad the viewers love what we are doing. Because we love doing it.”

While their parents are no longer here to watch the show, Suzie confirmed that other members all love to watch – especially those they don’t get to see often.

She explained: “They’re very interested in what we do, and very positive. I think it’s because it’s an extension of what we do in our everyday working life. From that perspective, it’s all very straightforward. But they love the fact we get to do it with the gang down at Repair Shop. They just love it.”
