Prince William issues surprising Prince George school update live on radio
The Prince of Wales spoke about his children and the chaos of the school run during an appearance on Heart radio this morning.
Prince William gave an insight into the “chaotic” school run while chatting on Heart Breakfast this morning, and revealed that his eldest child, Prince George, doesn’t always stay at home. The Prince of Wales revealed that the 12-year-old often boards at Lambrook School, where he and his siblings attend in Berkshire.
Speaking about the school run and his need to often bribe the children with jam sandwiches to make sure they’re on time, William said: “Charlotte and Louis, because George is boarding last night, if you’re listening, make sure you’re on time, please. Make sure you’re not fighting over who’s listening to what this morning.”
Lambrook, a private preparatory school for pupils aged 3-13, offers flexible boarding to all students.
Children aged 7-13 can stay from five nights a week to one night every so often. The website states there are two boarding houses, Lambrook House for girls and Westfield for boys. Each house is overseen by a house parent and supported by tutors.
William and Catherine may have decided to introduce boarding for George ahead of his enrolment at secondary school in September. The couple have not yet announced where he will be going, though Eton is said to be the frontrunner due to it being William’s almer mater and it’s close proximity to their family home.
He said: “She’s an amazing mum and an amazing wife and literally our family couldn’t cope without her. So she has been absolutely stunning, really has.”
Elsewhere, the prince revealed he prepares scones the “Devonian way”, explaining: “I learned from my grandmother, and she would definitely, she would have the cream on first.”
William also joked about the prospect of receiving an invite to Taylor Swift’s wedding, saying: “I am hoping, and I am sure that there might be an invitation around.”
