Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) wonders if he’s found himself a new protégé in Emmerdale soon, as it becomes apparent a young resident as a penchant for making money.
Beloved Eric surprised literally everyone last year when it was revealed that he had secretly married Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton).
Tying the knot didn’t happen from a romantic perspective though, as Eric decided to make Kerry his wife for financial convenience and tax purposes. Due to the progression of his Parkinson’s disease, Eric moved his assets to ensure grandson Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) was protected from care home fees after his death.
Even though the love Eric has for Kerry isn’t romantic, he still felt a pang of jealousy when he realised she was seeing Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson).
He dabbled in some typical Eric Pollard meddling to get Kerry to prove her loyalty, but it didn’t play out the way he intended.

When it became clear that Eric knew about her secretly fling, Kerry ended things with Jai, stating that she wouldn’t want Eric to be on his own.
This made Kerry incredibly unhappy though, so Eric gave her his blessing and said she could continue seeing Jai.
What started as an office fling has now turned into something genuine for the two residents. In upcoming episodes, with Jai away, his son Archie is being looked after by his dad’s new girlfriend and Eric.

The youngster decides to pass the time by conning a very surprised Kerry and Eric. They present a united front as they get their money back, and tell Archie that his punishment for this is to start working in the shop.
In an unexpected twist though, Eric discovers Archie’s quite savvy with money-making schemes.
The right thing for Eric to do here is not introduce Archie to the conman tricks he’s picked up over the years, but if he spies a chance to earn more money – he’s going to take it.
Is Eric about to cause more trouble for Kerry and Jai?
