Florence is heading back to London for another hospital clinic appointment — and for her family, the journey has brought back a flood of painful memories, hope and quiet fear.
Her mother shared that it has now been four years since Florence was first diagnosed, admitting that milestone anniversaries can feel “strange, vulnerable, and on edge” as the memories of the darkest days return.
After years of fighting, Florence was given a second chance at life through a life-saving double lung transplant. But her family know that miracle came through another family’s devastating loss. “Our joy will forever exist alongside their heartbreak,” her mother said, adding that every breath Florence takes carries the gift of that donor family’s generosity.

Since the transplant, Florence’s recovery has been filled with emotional milestones — especially the moment she took her first independent steps. After years of being held back by failing lungs, watching her walk again felt “nothing short of a miracle.”

At home, life has been chaotic too, with endless hospital appointments, charity work and house renovations all happening at once. Florence’s new wetroom and downstairs bedroom were being prepared just before the emergency call came for her new lungs.
But through every fear, the family remain focused on one thing: helping their brave little girl recover in comfort, love and hope.
