Gail Porter Reveals Shocking Claim: Katie Price Mocked Her Hair Loss by Saying ‘She Used to Be Pretty

Gail Porter, the beloved TV presenter, has revealed a heart-wrenching story about how Katie Price allegedly mocked her appearance after she lost all her hair due to alopecia. The shocking claim, made by the 55-year-old presenter, highlights a cruel comment made by Price during an introduction to one of her boyfriends.

Gail, who developed the chronic condition in 2005, explained that the condition, which causes the immune system to attack hair follicles, caused her hair to fall out suddenly. As her TV career began to fade, it seems that her appearance became the subject of mocking. Gail took to Instagram, leaving a comment on a trailer for Katie Price’s upcoming documentary, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide. In the comment, Gail claimed that Price had introduced her to a boyfriend by saying: “This is Gail. She used to be pretty when she had hair… Google her. Thanks.”

Gail’s battle with alopecia, which led to a drastic change in her appearance, caused a massive upheaval in her life. Her once thriving TV career quickly dried up, with the industry’s visual nature leaving little room for her to continue her work. She’s been candid about her struggles, sharing how her self-esteem took a hit as she lost her hair and how, despite refusing to wear wigs, she faced rejection in the industry.

“I’m not pretty, and I don’t have hair,” she said in a previous interview, reflecting on the impact of alopecia. “I’d get work offers, but then it would go quiet.”

Her career took a nosedive after her alopecia diagnosis, and Gail even found herself homeless at one point, struggling financially and emotionally. “I was going through a divorce, no money coming in… eventually I had nowhere to stay. It just went from bad to worse,” she recalled.

Things worsened further as Gail battled mental health issues, including anorexia and depression. By 2011, she had been sectioned and taken to a psychiatric unit for a month. But her daughter, Honey, became her source of strength, motivating her to seek treatment and fight for her life.

In 2020, Gail admitted that she had given up on finding love due to her loss of confidence after losing her hair. “I’m bald and I don’t feel confident about dating,” she said. Despite this, her daughter continued to champion her, encouraging her to stay hopeful.

Before her marriage to Toploader’s Dan Hipgrave, Gail had a relationship with Keith Flint, the late lead singer of The Prodigy, who she described as “the love of my life.” Gail’s grief over his death in 2019 was profound, and she shared an emotional tribute to him on the seventh anniversary of his passing.
