Emmerdale star Georgia Jay has finally confirmed her exit from the soap after an extended absence. The actor, who plays Steph Miligan, was last seen on screens in August 2025 after giving birth to a baby two months prior.
She has since taken an extended leave of absence, and it was recently reported that Georgia had decided to depart the soap permanently to focus on being a mother – though is open to a potential comeback in the future.
Georgia has now appeared to confirm her exit, sharing a series of pictures on Instagram from her time on set with co-stars including Beth Cordingly (Ruby) and William Ash (Caleb).

“Can’t believe I left the village nearly a year ago!” she wrote. “Miss you Steph, and everyone who made it so special.”
Some co-stars shared supportive messages in the comments, Bradley Riches (Lewis Barton) writing: “Miss you xx.”
Lucy Pargeter (Chas Dingle) added: “Miss you lady,” while many fans sent messages too, one sharing: “I really hope you are coming back. Steph was a great character, she is sorely missed x.”
“Awww we miss you so much, you were sooo good,” another said.
Steph was at the centre of a dark storyline following her introduction in 2024, where the truth about the harrowing history between her mother and grandfather was revealed. She later decided to depart the village to go travelling and deal with her pain and trauma.
Meanwhile, Georgia confirmed in January that she had welcomed a baby called Nora the previous June, leading to an outpouring of love from her co-stars.
Announcing her pregnancy after fans noticed a growing baby bump on screen, the actor said at the time: “As you’ve probably guessed, I’ve got some news to share. I know some of you have been wondering if you’ve been seeing a little bump on screen lately… well, it’s not your imagination… I’m having a baby!
“We’ve never been so excited and a little nervous all at once. Thank you for all the love and support.”
