I’m A Celeb star Beverley Callard has shared a new update on her breast cancer treatment, revealing a recent setback she described as “not what I wanted to hear.” The 69-year-old actress, best known for her role as Liz McDonald on Coronation Street, updated fans in a heartfelt Instagram video alongside her husband Jon McEwan.
Earlier this year, Callard publicly disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis on Ireland’s RTE Late Late Show and shared that she would have her lymph nodes removed as a precaution to ensure the cancer had not spread. Now, she explained that she will soon begin radiotherapy to continue her treatment.
Callard, who currently resides in Ireland for her acting role in Fair City, provided insight into her hospital visit: “I went to the hospital today… they were very nice, obviously new to me. They are a little concerned because they think I should have started radiotherapy earlier, but because we moved house, it took some time for my records to arrive from England. Everything has now arrived. I’ll go back on Thursday to see more doctors and then begin treatment soon, so it went okay.”
Despite being forced to pull out of this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds, Callard remains determined and positive. Fans reacted with messages of support, encouraging her to stay strong and sending love and good wishes.
Throughout her treatment, the beloved soap star has emphasized her commitment to maintaining a positive outlook and continuing her work where possible. She described the importance of staying strong and optimistic during challenging times, reflecting the resilience that has made her a cherished figure on British television.
Callard’s candid update highlights the ongoing journey faced by many in battling cancer, offering hope and inspiration to her fans. Her honesty about her experience resonates with those navigating similar challenges, emphasizing the importance of support, determination, and maintaining a fighting spirit.
