Jesy Nelson shares a sweet new photo of her daughter after revealing her twins are facing further tests in their battle against spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)

Jesy Nelson has shared another deeply emotional glimpse into life with her twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, as the babies continue their battle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1.

The former Little Mix star, 34, posted a sweet new photo of one of her girls smiling with her feeding tube in place, alongside the heartfelt words: “There’s nothing better than coming home to this.”

Jesy has kept fans closely updated on the twins’ journey ever since revealing that Ocean and Story, who were born prematurely at 31 weeks, had been diagnosed with the rare and devastating condition earlier this year.

SMA Type 1 causes progressive muscle weakness and loss, and Jesy has previously admitted that her daughters may never walk and could face a tragically shortened future.

Her campaign recently achieved a major breakthrough, with Health Secretary Wes Streeting confirming that SMA screening for newborns will be introduced earlier than expected. Jesy previously described the progress as “bittersweet”, knowing the change comes after her own daughters had already been diagnosed.

This week, she also revealed that Ocean and Story are now due to undergo more tests as part of their ongoing medical journey.

Alongside the update, Jesy shared more candid moments from hospital life. In one image, one of the twins could be seen being examined by a doctor while Ocean appeared to watch protectively. Jesy joked: “Ocean’s face she’s like ‘I see what you doing to my sister’.”

In another affectionate post, she shared a snap of one of the girls with tousled brunette hair and lovingly wrote: “Her hair! She’s literally a little cabbage patch doll”.

Jesy’s daughters have also undergone a one-off infusion designed to replace the missing gene in their bodies and stop further muscles from dying. But while the treatment may help prevent further decline, it cannot restore muscle that has already been lost.

Even as she faces that devastating reality, Jesy has remained determined to raise awareness, with her Amazon documentary also reaching number one while she continues her campaign for life-saving SMA testing.

What shines through in every update is not just the seriousness of the twins’ condition, but the fierce love of a mother refusing to stop fighting.
