Emmerdale‘s Kammy Hadiq has been having a hard time keeping his homelessness underwraps from girlfriend Belle Dingle, as the ITV soap has ended a new episode on a cliffhanger for the budding couple.
Belle and Kammy have recently rekindled their romance after first ruling out a serious relationship last year. The pair now seem committed to each other, though Kammy’s homelessness (which he’s keeping a secret in the village) might drive a wedge between him and Belle.
In recent scenes, Belle had started to fear that Kammy might not be completely honest with her after she suggested she could meet his family. Kammy’s snappy reaction to her idea hurt Belle, who even thought about checking his phone while he was in the bathroom. She stopped herself just in time, but the thought of being a controlling partner after her ordeal with coercive Tom King continued weighed her down.
In tonight’s scenes, Kammy joined Belle at the café, where he apologised for his behaviour. Belle said she felt that Kammy had “something to hide” and admitted she almost went through his phone. Kammy was understanding and reassured her that he didn’t “keep secrets”.
Later on, Kammy had a run-in with Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle, who were on the hunt for the arsonist who’d been torching the farm. A sneaky Kammy was carrying a petrol can and a lighter to set fire to his car so he could claim the insurance money. Despite explaining his reasons to Aaron and Robert, the couple were convinced he was behind the fires.
After Kammy went on the run, Aaron went to see Belle at Take a Vow to tell her that her boyfriend was the arsonist. She asked whether he’d confessed it, but Aaron said there was no need.
“I didn’t think he was capable of this,” Belle said, as she feared she had been roped into another toxic relationship.
Kammy went to see Vinny Dingle and finally opened up to his best friend about his situation. He told Vinny that he needed the insurance pay out as he didn’t have a place to stay after being kicked out of his flat for not being able to pay his bills.
“Living on your own is well expensive, man,” Kammy said.
Belle called round at Vinny’s to vent and was surprised to find Kammy there. Vinny encouraged Kammy to come clean to Belle, but he couldn’t admit to being homeless.
He apologised for letting Belle down as she vowed she never wanted to see him again. Belle stormed out with tears streaming down her face, will Kammy finally trust her with the truth?
