Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper) and Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) have only just started getting it back on in Emmerdale and already Belle is sensing the red flags.
After her experience with her abusive gas lighter of an ex Tom, Belle knows how to spot the signs. But is cheeky chappy Kammy really a wrong un?
He’s carrying a humongous secret, and though he thinks no one knows about it, Belle is sensing something and his reluctance to open up could be a big problem. Actor Shebz confirmed as much to Metro when speaking about Kammy’s decision to keep quiet: ‘there are consequences’.
Yikes.
Kammy visits Belle at work, but there’s something off about him. Belle already knows he’s a private soul and is determined to break down his walls.
She uses Eid as an excuse to dig about his family and learn more about his background. She’s quickly shut down though; he gets awkward and it becomes clear she shouldn’t push. But she ignores it and asks to meet his family. This is a step too far and Kammy is quick to shut her down.

Kammy’s behaviour gets weirder when he receives a text from Aaron about a barn fire and he legs it.
Kammy arrives sat the garage where Aaron comments how tired he looks. Aaron (Danny Miller) and Robert (Ryan Hawley) are still trying to unmask their mystery arsonist and Aaron is still not convinced that Kammy is innocent of the crime.
Belle later finds herself alone with Kammy’s phone and decides to seize the opportunity for a snoop. She stops herself just before she rifles through his phone and is mortified at her distrust. She tells Dawn (Olivia Bromley) what she nearly did, but still can’t shake the feeling he’s lying to her.
And that’s because he is; while she’s worrying about what he’s up to, Kammy is setting up his sleeping bag in a barn. His big secret? He’s homeless.
‘This storyline is a vital look at ‘hidden homelessness,’ showing that people can be living on the edge of society, sleeping in their vehicle or barns, while still successfully holding down a job and maintaining relationships’, producer of the show Sophie Roper said.
‘For many reasons, a person’s circumstances can change dramatically and we wanted to challenge the perception of what homelessness looks like and prove that what people present to the outside world isn’t necessarily the whole story. We hope this narrative encourages our viewers to look closer and remember that things are not always quite as they seem.’
Robert and Aaron get a tip-off that there’s someone looking dodgy in one of the fields, so they head off to catch him. Imagine their surprise when they find Kammy, petrol can in hand.
He shamefully tells them he planned to torch his car, but thecty don’t believe him and things turn violent. As Aaron stops Robert from doing something that would put him back inside, Kammy runs.
But when there’s another barn fire, Aaron calls the police, and Kammy finds himself in cuffs. Will Belle find out she was right all along? There is way more to come for this story.
Shebz hinted to Metro that the outcome might not be as bleak as it seems – perhaps there is hope for the pair. While he says ‘there are consequences’, he adds: ‘It’s not a smooth ride for them, but it’s worth it. There is a somewhat happy ending for both of them. So yeah, I think they both balance each other out so far, and it’s an unexpected duo. But I think it is working so far.
Ok, so there’s a future here it seems. He adds that maybe some true love is on the horizon, referring to Kammy as Belle’s ‘Prince Charming’.
‘[Belle’s] had a lot of bad experiences with previous frogs, and now that she finally gets the right frog, Prince Charming and all of that. Fans are going to enjoy seeing this chaotic yet innocent duo.’
Shebz also hinted that Kammy will come clean to Belle about his homelessness.
‘He’s not really had anyone care for him sincerely like that. And I think because of that, he just puts his hand up and he waves the white flag and confesses everything.’
So perhaps he’s not the arsonist after all, and there’s much more to Kammy than meets the eye.
