Jack and his wife, Hanni, shattered the internet last week by announcing the peaceful home birth of their gorgeous baby girl, Constance Ita Shepherd, born on June 26, 2026. Now, the legacy actor is taking fans behind the scenes of his frantic baby-name brainstorming sessions.

Sitting down with fellow Corrie star Colson Smith (Craig Tinker) on the latest episode of his popular On the Sofa podcast, Jack admitted that choosing a name in the modern age essentially boils down to a massive Google marathon.
Desperate for something elegant and distinctive, the couple intentionally steered away from traditional British choices:
“What you do is when you’re picking names, you Google,” Jack laughed. “You’ll go French names, Italian names, something that’s a bit, you know, European and posh. That’s what we were thinking. We wanted something unusual, and Constance came up. It was probably the only one that we both agreed on.”
However, the naming process wasn’t entirely smooth sailing. Jack confessed that they constantly clashed over each other’s ideas, leading him to implement a strict personal veto. If Hanni suggested a name belonging to an acquaintance who “was a bit of a dick,” Jack immediately wiped it off the chalkboard.
When grilled by Colson on whether they had a backup boy’s name ready to go, Jack fiercely locked down: “Yes. But I don’t want to reveal my name and have someone steal it. Even though I am fully aware there is still only one other person with it in the world!“
