Lorraine Kelly has taken a swipe at the BAFTA TV Awards after her daytime show failed to win at the annual ceremony. The TV star, 66, has fronted her eponymous chat show since 2010 and has been a regular face on ITV since the 1980s, having started at TV-am and going on to host GMTV and Daybreak before landing her current format.
Lorraine was up for the Best Daytime gong alongside The Chase and Richard Osman’s House of Games, but it was BBC One’s Scam Interceptors that emerged victorious.
The presenter, whose long-running show has recently been slashed to just 30 minutes an episode and now airs just 30 weeks of the year in the wake of budget cuts at ITV, was back preparing her usual slot on Monday morning when Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls began the handover from their programme.

The pair congratulated her nomination, and complimented her fashion choices for the night. In response, Lorraine said: “I got that in the sale last year, I’ve been waiting for the chance to wear it.
“It was such a lovely night, it was so good to be reunited with all the gang. It was genuinely good to be nominated. It would have been better to have won but never mind.”
The nomination came as a result of the Change and Check campaign that the programme fronted and dedicated a special episode to last year. Founded by Lorraine producer Helen Addis, it was all an effort to raise awareness and early detection of breast cancer, and Susanna reminded Lorraine: “That is so significant, Lorraine, it’s a winning campaign anyway, it saves lives.”
Lorraine replied: “It really does, and our Helen has done an amazing job with that campaign. There’s got to be room for campaigns like that in television, we should be doing things like that and trying to give back and help people.”
Ed and Susanna then reminded Lorraine that she has already received a BAFTA, having received the prestigious BAFTA Special Award in 2024 to mark her 40 years on screen.

Lorraine said: “Yeah, I got one for being alive! I got one for surviving telly for 40 years, ‘there’s a wee award for being alive, off you go!’”
Lorraine once shared hosting duties on her show with a host of others, including Loose Women star Christine, as well as Ranvir Singh, who used to take over on a regular basis. Other stars like BBC Breakfast’s Louise Minchin and X Factor star Rylan Clark have provided cover but, following the cuts, Lorraine now fronts all five shows.
Towards the end of last year, when asked if if the cuts came as a shock to her, Lorraine told The Mirror: “Not really. I mean, it’s kind of indicative of the whole industry, really. I’m just glad that we’re still there. We’ve still managed to save some jobs. A lot of my team are going to This Morning. And so yeah, it’s not my decision. It wasn’t a decision that I made.
“I just feel lucky to still be doing what I love to do. I mean, what’s not to love? There we are this morning. Brian Cox is a massive hero of me. Both Brian Coxes, the actor and the astrophysicist, both of the heroes of mine.
“You know, getting to talk to people like that is is is a privilege, really. You know, getting to watch Jamie Oliver cook something and then eat it is fantastic. And you know, and and you know, next year all my all our regulars will still be there, Dr. Hilary and Doctor Amir and Mark Hayes and Ross King, all the usual people that we we’ve known.
“So I’m just glad that we’re still going to be there. It’ll be different. But you know what? I’ve been through many a regime change. So it’s just another one. Just another one. It’s fine. We’ll still be there and it will still be really good fun and I still really, really, really enjoy it. So I feel very lucky.”
