The gripping season 5 finale of Clarksonâs Farm has left fans completely devastated after Jeremy Clarkson shared the heartbreaking news that he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of cancer.
The 66-year-old television star opens up about his secret health battle during the emotional closing moments of the Prime Video series, leaving his close farm colleagues Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland visibly shattered.
A Shocking Revelation at Diddly Squat
The distressing scenes unfold as Jeremy sits down with Kaleb and Charlie to deliver the bombshell. He reveals that a biopsy conducted earlier this year confirmed his fears, meaning he must now undergo immediate treatment during one of the most demanding periods in the farming calendar.
“Iâve got cancer,” Jeremy abruptly tells the pair. A stunned Kaleb immediately gasps, “No, you havenât? Where?” “Where it is of no concern of anybody,” Jeremy fires back, maintaining his privacy. “Iâve known since May.”
Reflecting on his medical journey, the former Top Gear presenter explains that he had desperately hoped to hold off medical intervention until the farmâs harvest was safely completed. However, due to the aggressive nature of the disease, his treatment schedule will now collide directly with their busiest weeks.
“I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and itâs aggressive. But itâs really early so the treatment will be, you know,” Jeremy says, his voice cracking with emotion. “I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment but itâs going to be slap bang in the middle.”
Deeply moved, Kaleb urges his boss to focus on himself, saying, “Look after yourself.” Jeremy reassures them that he is taking the diagnosis seriously and is scheduled for major surgery within a fortnight. Charlie also offers his support, wishing him a “very, very speedy recovery,” to which Jeremy bravely replies, “Iâll be fine.”
Season 5 Ends on a Dramatic Cliffhanger
The season concludes on an incredibly tense note for the Diddly Squat team. Viewers are shown dramatic footage of an ambulance racing toward the property with flashing lights, before the cameras cut to Jeremy confined to a hospital bed.
Positioned beneath a ‘Nil By Mouth’ medical sign, Jeremy provides a somber yet characteristically blunt update on his condition.
“We started season 5 with me in a hospital bed and we ended season 5 with me back in a hospital bed,” he notes. “Some of the treatmentâs gone a bit⊠awry shall we say. Iâm going to be here for a little while. Iâm nil by mouth. I donât know whatâs going to happen.”
Never one to lose his dark sense of humor, Jeremy signs off the season with a bittersweet joke to the audience: “What I wanted to say was, if this is all successful, Iâll see you for season six. And if it isnât, I wonât! Take care everyone.”
The emotional episode draws to a close with a nostalgic montage of the seasonâs best moments, fittingly set to Eric Idleâs Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. The final poignant shot features Kaleb cradling his newborn son, Ashton, leaving fans holding onto a glimmer of hope during this incredibly tough time for the TV icon.
