Emmerdale‘s Charity Dingle is subjected to a sickening assault next week.
The shocking scenes air as Dr Todd’s evil reaches its darkest point yet. How will Charity cope with the trauma inflicted on her?
“What happens is devastating for Charity,” shares our Emmerdale insider. “It’s not clear yet the exact nature of the assault, but the incident takes place right after Todd assures Charity that her baby secret is safe.
“The medic is just putting on a wicked act, however, as Charity soon becomes the victim of a truly vile attack that’s set to leave her traumatised.”
The week begins with Charity working against the clock to pay off Todd, who is threatening to drop the bombshell about Leyla on Sarah Sugden’s 21st birthday.
Charity resorts to knocking back booze to cope with her guilt, leading her to lash out at Todd in the village.
How will Todd react to Charity approaching her in broad daylight?
“Charity is three sheets to the wind when she has a word with Todd,” explains our informant. “She recklessly dares Todd to expose her secret, which says all you need to know about her state of mind.
“In the moment, Todd changes tack and backs down, seemingly unable to bring herself to wreck Sarah’s life in public. But don’t be fooled for a second – Todd is still rotten to the core, as her later actions prove.”
Standing in front of Charity, Todd uses her twisted logic to justify her blackmail demand, while also confessing that she takes joy in observing the landlady’s chaotic personal life.
Todd then implies that she will keep Charity’s secret under wraps, essentially putting their feud on pause. However, Todd’s truce is nothing but a farce, as her dastardly ways resurface when Charity is assaulted.
“Todd is a truly nasty piece of work,” continues our spy. “We’ve known for a while now that she is a cruel woman, but this is next level. What Todd unleashes will haunt Charity for a long time to come – let’s just hope that Todd is exposed soon, before she causes any more trauma.”
