Dramatic twists are usually reserved for the silver screen, but Emmerdale and Waterloo Road favorite Adam Thomas recently found himself living through a bizarre real-life saga after being “robbed” by a familiar face.
The former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star opened up about the baffling encounter during the latest episode of his popular podcast, At Home with the Thomas Bros. Speaking to his brothers, Ryan and Scott, Adam detailed a highly unexpected confrontation with a local corner shop owner that left him completely blindsided.
An Expensive Sweet Treat
The incident began when Adam popped into his local off-licence to pick up some treats for his children. However, a routine tap of his bank card quickly took a scandalous turn.
“I got robbed!” Adam declared during the light-hearted podcast exchange. “So I went to [a] local off-licence, I was buying some sweets for the kids. And I went to pay for it, and I looked at the card machine, and it said £100.”
Stunned by the astronomical price tag for a few bags of sweets, Adam immediately confronted the shopkeeper. Instead of apologizing for a technical glitch, the owner boldly fired back, claiming the actor “didn’t need” the cash anyway, especially after his high-profile stint in the I’m A Celeb jungle.

While Adam admitted he usually shares a friendly rapport and regular banter with the merchant, the sheer audacity of the move caught him completely off guard. He firmly believes that had he not double-checked the card reader, the employee “would’ve taken” the £100 without a second thought.
Trying to make sense of the situation, Adam joked that because the shopkeeper frequently hands out free candy to his kids, this might have been a calculated attempt at “getting his money back.”
After sternly telling the shop owner not to “take the piss,” a frustrated Adam boycotted the establishment for several weeks.

When Adam finally built up the courage to walk back into the store weeks later, he was met with a wave of remorse. “I felt really bad and at one point I was gonna go, ‘You know what, keep the money, it’s not about the money,'” Adam confessed to his siblings.
