Jermaine Jenas appeared on Good Morning Britain for his first TV interview since being sacked by the BBC
The 43-year-old ex-footballer appeared on the ITV programme on Friday (June 12) for his first TV interview since being sacked by the BBC.
The ex-Match of the Day regular was sacked by the broadcaster almost two years ago after allegations were made that he âsent unsolicited textsâ to a female staff member at The One Show, which he co-presented from 2020 to 2024. It was subsequently reported that âmultiple womenâ had come forward about explicit messages he sent to colleagues.

Jermaine was interviewed by hosts Ranvir Singh and Kate Garraway as he broke his silence. During the conversation, he said: âIâd reached a point recently where there was a lot of uncertainty in my life, a lot of fear in terms of the direction, in terms of where it was going.
âItâs been a tough two-year period, in particular [for] my family⊠I got to this point where I was like, âI feel like I need to start speaking.’â
He went on to admit: âIâve lost everything, essentially. My job, my family, everything was kind of taken away from me. And thatâs not for me to decide the punishment, but thatâs exactly what happened â itâs what I had to face.â
Jermaine also noted that he focused his attention on protecting his family in the face of criticism, with Ranvir then saying: âI notice you donât mention the women who you were texting, and who accused you of sending unsolicited, perhaps even videos or text messages, that they did not want, and did not expect from you. Do you have an apology to them?â
Jermaine replied: âIâve always apologised. I donât think thatâs something Iâve never done. Iâve always apologised to everybody that was involved in it, whether it was the women who I was messaging and who were messaging meâŠ
âI wasnât given the opportunity to sit in front of anybody and really apologise to anybody, and thatâs fine. Thereâs a duty of care around the situation.â
